Rethink Summer Program

Every summer, students get together to “rethink” an issue in New Orleans public schools. They share stories, create artwork, meet experts, go on field trips, and come up with a collective vision for the school of their dreams.

At the end of the summer, they host a news conference and present recommendations for change to school officials, the media, and the community. Learn more.

Rethink School Clubs

Rethink Clubs meet 1-2 times a week in 6 public schools. Students meet in a circle and identify issues in their school. They create school-wide surveys to find out what their classmates think about each issue, then come up with solutions.

Rethinkers present their ideas to the school community through videos, skits, zines, photography exhibits and assemblies. They also hold meetings with principals and other school leaders. At the end of the school year, all 8 Clubs come together for a youth summit.

Rethink Action Committees

At Rethink Action Committee meetings, students continue building skills and exploring topics they discovered in a school club or the summer program. Our four Committees include Architecture, Garden, Food Justice, Restorative Justice, and the Rethink Club Leadership Committee. Learn more.
